OpenV compared with other requirements management tools

This page sets hosted OpenV beside five tools buyers weigh it against: four hosted services (IBM DOORS Next, Jama Connect, Siemens Polarion X and Jira) and the ReqView desktop app. Every statement about another product comes from its vendor’s own pages, checked on the date below, and each comparison says when the other tool is the better choice. OpenV is free to start today; the enterprise tools are priced by quote.

Checked by Desktop Machine Shop, the makers of OpenV, against each vendor’s own pages. Something out of date? Tell us.

What OpenV does not do

  • No electronic signatures, so 21 CFR Part 11 and similar rules are not met by OpenV alone.
  • No separate approver role: any project editor can approve, including their own change.
  • No certification and no tool qualification kit for ISO 26262, DO-178C, IEC 62304 or any other standard.
  • No Word, Excel or CSV import: requirements come in by ReqIF or OpenV’s own JSON.
  • OpenV is in alpha: features and screens still change between releases.

How these comparisons are made

Hosted services are compared with hosted services. Statements about another product say only what its vendor says, with a link; a price is shown only where the vendor publishes one. OpenV’s side states its limits as plainly as its strengths, and every page carries the date it was last checked.
